IFGA-style guppy naming

Name that guppy.

Point your camera at a fancy guppy and get its proper name — colour class, pattern and tail shape — read straight off the photo. No jargon required, and we tell you when we're not sure.

How it works

Three steps, a few seconds, one honest answer.

1

Upload or snap

Drop in a photo or use your phone camera. We shrink and clean the image before anything else.

2

Read the traits

An IFGA-trained vision model judges only what's visible: sex, tail, colour class and pattern.

3

Get the name

You get a suggested strain name, a confidence badge, and a note on anything that's genuinely ambiguous.

A guppy's name has three parts

Fancy guppies (Poecilia reticulata) are named by combining a colour class, a pattern, and a tail shape — think "Blue Delta" or "Half Black Red Delta". The standard comes from the International Fancy Guppy Association.
